Another chapter in the kitchen chronicles!
We made a chicken dish tonight with sweet potatoes, apples, onions, and sage. It wasn't our favorite but it wasn't terrible. The smell while it was cooking was heavenly - it smelled like Thanksgiving - and it looked so autumny in the pot!
Tomorrow is OCTOBER!!! The best month of the year - HOORAY!!!

Elementary School Art
Earlier this year, I went to an event at a DC elementary school for work. This mural hung right in the entry way. I think it's beautiful.

Orange Curry Chicken
I have been trying to cook quite a bit lately. I want to learn to enjoy it and be good at it! I have made a few dishes lately that have turned out pretty yummy including some tofu (for me) and chicken (for Jason) fajitas that were quite tasty and some barbeque chicken over Labor Day weekend. Tonight I used A Year of Slow Cooking's orange curry chicken recipe and while it wound up not looking quite like her pictures, it tasted delicious! I used a little bit of apricot preserves as well as orange marmalade. Sweet and spicy - yum!
Our lazy weekend was quite enjoyable. I felt so lousy that it was perfect. We ventured out to see one open house but other than that, we were bumps on logs. It paid off too - I woke up completely better (albeit a little tired) today! I'm amazed how quickly the cold went away considering how terrible I sounded and felt on Saturday. Rest really does do the body good. Oh, and watching hours of Arrested Development... Speaking of which, this is amazing.

Zola Dinner
Every once in a while we like to go out and get a nice meal. Last week, we met after work in DC to go to Zola. I think they're a better bar than restaurant, but we were happy enough with the food. I mean, I got a plate of mushrooms and onions - can't go wrong with that! Jason got some fish (the photo didn't turn out) and we got delicious desserts! It was a very nice date night that we ended at home with our pup and with the windows open. Loving this nice fall weather!
I've been fighting a sore throat all week and woke up full-blown sick early this morning so we're being lazy for the weekend while I try to recover. Jason already ran to the grocery store to get me some cold meds, chicken noodle soup, OJ, soy milk, and even some vitamin water and nutella! Sweet husband, I love you!

Happy Weekend!
It has been a long, emotional week.
But between lunchtime romps outside with Rufus in the gorgeous weather, a sweet husband who went in search of sunflowers to cheer me up, and a delicious holiday meal with my family, things are looking up again. I can't wait to spend most of my weekend with my sweet husband and puppy.
Happy weekend to all!

Hanson and PSU
Let's keep this short and sweet: Last week, Christine, her friend Alicia, and I met Hanson.
We spent a great day walking around PSU (Christine's alma mater) seeing all of the Nittany Lion stuff...
...and ended our day with Hanson. Without even trying we managed to be in the front row of the show. We loved it.
The show was amazing - not only were we in the front row, but it was free. Can't beat a free show!
Christine and Alicia insisted that we wait after the show. I was ready to go back but it turned out being worth waiting for because Zac walked up to me and said, "So um, I don't really need these anymore," and handed me his drum sticks that he used at the show. Night = made.
It was past 1 am and I was tired, so kindly ignore my terrible hair/sweaty face.
It was pretty amazing. Christine and I lucked out with Hanson again - twice in less than a year's time.
