yppaH Thanksgiving

I flew out to LA to celebrate Thanksgiving (morning) with one of my very best friends. We had fun decorating the table. The writing in the middle? It's mine. I don't even know where I was going with that...

Baltimore

We have taken to visiting Baltimore recently after realizing that it's the halfway point between us and some good friends, Christine and Kyle, who live in Delaware. The first time we went we met Christine and we walked around the harbor for the afternoon. I actually really enjoy walking around the harbor. It's quite lovely. The top corner pic is Christine and Jason on a cool lighthouse along the harbor.

The second time? Well, I'll let Christine explain that one because she took the better pictures.
But I'll give you a hint: mmmeat.

Hanson and PSU

Let's keep this short and sweet: Last week, Christine, her friend Alicia, and I met Hanson.

We spent a great day walking around PSU (Christine's alma mater) seeing all of the Nittany Lion stuff...

...and ended our day with Hanson. Without even trying we managed to be in the front row of the show. We loved it.

The show was amazing - not only were we in the front row, but it was free. Can't beat a free show!

Christine and Alicia insisted that we wait after the show. I was ready to go back but it turned out being worth waiting for because Zac walked up to me and said, "So um, I don't really need these anymore," and handed me his drum sticks that he used at the show. Night = made.

It was past 1 am and I was tired, so kindly ignore my terrible hair/sweaty face.

It was pretty amazing. Christine and I lucked out with Hanson again - twice in less than a year's time.

The July Surprise!

The surprise of July was ERIN!!!

ridin

My dearest Erin came into town this weekend to surprise her fiance, Ryan, who is working in the DC area this summer (for NASA of all places - can we say awesome?). He was very surprised so the trip was a success! Here they are. Aww, aren't they cute? We can't wait for their upcoming nuptials NEXT July!

So, lucky me, I got to hang out with her while she was in town. Yay! We drove all around in Arlington, Georgetown, and DC. Some of the highlights include:
  • Splitting a peach cupcake (next time we'll try the lemon blueberry one we really wanted that another lady stole right out from under us),
  • Cooling off with some gelato (for her) and sorbet (for me),
  • Wedding dresses! She tried on wedding dresses and found her perfect dress (it's SO pretty).
Jason also met us for an unsuccessful lunch trip to Good Stuff, which I've been wanting to try for a while now.  While lunch was unsuccessful, dinner was a success! We all made it there for dinner... but not all together. Jason and I stopped to eat to miss some of the traffic back into VA and Erin and crew went later.

good stuff

Eventually I'll get a burger and a marshmallow shake but I stuck with a chicken breast sandwich, a bite of Jason's burger, and a strawberry milkshake and fries to share. We were STUFFED afterward!

Today, we got to meet Erin, Ryan, and Ryan's sister, brother-in-law, and cute little nephew for lunch today before she flew back to sunny LA. Was so good seeing you, Okie dearest!

Maitha Visits!

Maitha came all the way from Belgium to stay with me and Jason while she shot a wedding. We hung out all week and had a blast.  Maitha brought me and Jason delicious teas, cookies, and chocolate from Belgium... and as if that wasn't enough she also cooked delicious food for us! Rufus was also glad to have someone home with him while Jason and I worked. Throughout the week, we went bowling, frolicking around Arlington, shooting (photos) in DC, and also managed to see one of my favorite musicians, Bleu, perform in Vienna. Here we are with Eddie on a lunch break where we stopped at the Dairy Godmother and then took a walk on the beautiful spring day... and found my favorite flower, lilacs, in full bloom!

Miss you, Maitha!

It's June? Seriously?

Life certainly hasn’t been slow! Allison says I’m still in “calm bride mode” and I plan to stay that way! Sorry for the lack of updates... This will be a big post!

Last weekend I helped Jakob make a cake for his elementary school's spring fair's cake decorating contest. And he won the blue ribbon!!! He was SO EXCITED and we were all so proud of him! Coincidentally, my dad's birthday was also around that time so we celebrated it with the cake!

Jason and I spent the Memorial Day weekend at the lake - this year was a much better drive - we didn't hit any traffic! There were tons of people there - probably around 50 or so - and it was a blast! We got the jet skiis and boats out and even got into the water to swim! During an outdoor break, some of the ladies (Ali, Morgan, Linda, and Diane) took some time to look at old lake pictures while Terry looked on.

We drove back early on Monday morning to make it to the block party on my parents' street to see all of my old neighbors... one of which even offered to marry us!

The Friday before Memorial Day weekend, my friend (and bridesmaid!) Ali came to DC for her brother's wedding so I got to see her for a nice little coffee break from work! I hadn't seen her in years, so it was sooooo good to see her! Please note: she works outside everyday and I am a cube monkey with no windows!

Jason and I have been looking around for an apartment for about 2 months now, hoping that we would find a place now so that we wouldn’t have to stress out about it later (our lease is up at the end of August). We ended up putting a deposit down on a place that is a little bigger than our current place and is only about a mile away (meaning we can still get to the dog park easily which is a major selling point). But... we weren't told to actually sign the lease so we're not exactly locked in (we don't think). So we're still on the lookout for a cheaper place but have the stability and peace of mind knowing that we have a place if we don't find anything better. We are NOT looking forward to moving. Again. It's not enjoyable to move each year, especially at the end of August when it is HOT out. We're obviously on the wrong cycle. Thankfully, this year we have moving helpers (thanks Eddie, Jessica, and Joel!!!). We’re hoping that with three extra heads and six extra hands things will be faster, more fun, and less nightmarish than last year’s moving experience!

My Uncle Steve sold me his old D-SLR for dirt cheap ohhh over a year ago now and I finally got lenses for it! I LOVE how beautiful the pictures are. A good camera and good lenses make ALL the difference. Here's my favorite subject:

I can't believe the wedding is now less than half a year away. I really only have four months left to plan everything which is a little crazy... but we're getting there! I just want October to be here already!
